The majority of grenache in the blend this year reminds me of the 2018 vintage with a similar high-toned floral nose like sage, patchouli incense and persimmon flowers. Grenache and syrah intermingle with a touch of mourvèdre to build a silky texture, almost savory. Sweet notes of açaí and acerola berries captivate a striking, tight acidity showing wonderful persistence on the palate. This 2021 Rule of Thirds is a fine choice for consuming over the next decade or so. If opened in its early life, I would give it a healthy decant!
